Working in call center services in the Philippines can bring you a lot of golden opportunities which you should not take for granted. You wouldn’t want to miss the chance of a lifetime simply because you were slacking off. With that being said, there are a few things you should totally avoid while doing on your job.

 Unless your job entails the use of sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, this is a big no-no. Though social media sites are meant to strengthen communication between your friends (and at times colleagues), it’s best to keep away from it, especially during times of work. When it comes to this, try and limit your social media use during your breaks. By doing so, you get to relax at an appropriate time.

 

Sleeping

We all get tired from the night before, whether it be dedicating the night to work or even partying the night away. Either way, sleeping on the job just reeks of unprofessionalism.

Luckily, in many call center services around the Philippines, there are sleeping quarters installed as part of the office’s main amenities for their employees, particularly for those working the graveyard shift. This means that when you are feeling drowsy, you could simply go there to take a nap.

Swearing

Sure, we all use profanities at times, especially when engaging in jovial conversations with friends and other colleagues. However, when it comes to work, swear words should never exit the mouths of employees and enter the ears of their colleagues and superiors. Not only can it be offensive, it can also send the wrong message to your whole team.

When working in a Philippine call center service where your job would entail your attention on the phone 24/7, swearing is something to avoid entirely (you wouldn’t want to slip up and end up swearing to you caller). As much as possible, do limit that kind of language to situations outside of work.

 

Eating

While we all get hungry sometimes, especially during days of extreme stress and whatnot, it’s best not to eat on the job as much as possible. Since you’re going to be in front of a computer the whole day, it would be ideal to keep your station clean from all the food crumbs from whatever dish you are going to eat.

For this, do your best to limit your eating time to the appropriately scheduled breaks. That way, you’ll have time to regain sustenance and at the same time energize yourself for the day ahead.

Surfing the Net

Call center services in the Philippines require employees to use computers, especially those who specialize in email and chat support. Since you’ve been given control of this technology, it would be best to limit your web-surfing activities during your breaks.

This is actually one of the most important things to consider when it comes to employment in general. In which case, not only can people behind you see what you’re doing, but there is also the chance that your employer can track your activity using various forms of software at their command. Plus, once people see what you’re doing, your credibility as an employee of that company might be put into question.

 

Playing Loud Music

We all play music at times, but when you are in a professional setting, playing your favorite tunes (particularly in a loud volume) could end up distracting your colleagues from what they are doing – essentially, hindering their productivity. You wouldn’t want to be the cause of this.

In this kind of situation, it would be best for you to get your headphones out so you are free to listen to your music all day. However, if you do need to work on the phone, then it might be better for you to save listening to your music on your way home. Doing so would definitely help you unwind after a busy day.

Spreading Rumors

Spreading rumors is not only unprofessional, it is also hurtful. Nobody wants to be subjected to rumors (regardless of them being true or not). This will definitely affect your team’s dynamic and not in a good way. Plus, it will only cause controversy that might end up escalating to your bosses – a scenario which you wouldn’t want to be a part of.

 

Doing Nothing (a.k.a. Being Lazy)

There are times when the work at a Philippine call center service becomes a bit lax, it doesn’t mean you can neglect your duties. Being lazy just plain reeks of unprofessionalism as a simple hint of it can disrupt the flow within the workplace.
